Shokz x Boston Marathon Campaign – Photography by Sam Todd
I recently had the opportunity to shoot the Shokz x Boston Marathon Campaign, and I’m excited to finally share the work. It’s been a little quiet on here – we had a baby back in late January (hello sleep deprivation!) – but this project was one I couldn’t pass up.
The Shokz x Boston Marathon Campaign came with the kind of creative freedom I love. Shokz were looking for photography that captured not just their product, but the rhythm and emotion of running. Their open-ear headphones are all about staying connected – to the course, to your surroundings, and to your mindset. That message really shaped how I approached the shoot.
We created the imagery on location in the lead-up to the Boston Marathon, working quickly to catch natural light, motion, and energy in a real-world setting. There was no over-staging – just honest movement and authentic connection.
The runner featured was @benbags_, who brought the perfect blend of effort and style. We shot fast and loose to keep the energy alive. Lighting was handled by the brilliant @jonnyclarke, and a big shoutout to @VirityPlus for bringing me on board for this one.
This campaign was a reminder of why I love what I do – working with people who care about craft, story, and movement. Whether it’s a race, a run, or a moment between steps, my goal was to capture the heartbeat of it all.
If you’re looking for photography that brings motion and meaning to brand campaigns – especially in the sports or lifestyle world – let’s talk.
Until then, here’s to more projects like this one: raw, fast, and full of feeling.
