The Most Personal of Personal Projects has been on my mind for a while. I shoot a lot of personal work, but I often struggle to put into words why I’m shooting it or why it matters to me. When I work with brands, I always ask them to share their story so for my next personal project, I wanted to share mine.
This film, The Most Personal of Personal Projects, is my way of showing why movement is so important to me. It’s not just about fitness or training; it’s about the way I live, the way I work, and the way I want to show up for the people I care about.
Since becoming a father, my outlook has shifted. My training has changed not because I’ve stopped caring about performance, but because I care more about longevity. I want to be strong and healthy for my daughter, to have the energy to be present, and to set an example about looking after yourself. Movement, for me, is the foundation for that.
When I started planning The Most Personal of Personal Projects, I knew it had to be honest. No staged perfection. No overly polished production that hid the reality. I wanted it to feel real the kind of film where you can see the texture of the moment, where the lighting and the sound tell as much of the story as the words do.
A huge part of making this possible was collaboration. @charlie.coleman captured the footage beautifully, and I had the support of friends and collaborators who understand both me and the message I was trying to share: @callumawilson @tomcoppinscore @jonnyyclarke @aimeethompson91 @hive.fit @vinstavideo @affixxius
Shooting it made me realise how rarely I stop to tell my own story. I’m usually the one behind the camera, shaping someone else’s vision. This time, I had to step forward and be open about my own “why.” It wasn’t always comfortable but that’s why it’s called The Most Personal of Personal Projects.
This film is more than just another piece in my portfolio. It’s a reminder of why I do what I do, and a marker of what matters most to me right now. Movement keeps me grounded. Storytelling gives me purpose. And the people around me make it all worth it.
